rdfs:comment
Group Sounds (G.S.) is a genre of Japanese rock music that was popular in the mid to late 1960s. The most well known bands of that era were The Tigers, The Tempters, The Spiders, The Golden Cups, The Mops, The Blue Comets, The Wild Ones, The Happenings Four and others. Group Sounds initiated fusion of Japanese kayōkyoku music and rock music, but their music was very unnatural. Nonetheless, their ways of musical production were regarded as a pioneer of modern popular music of Japan.

Fōku (folk) and New Music became famous in 1970s, but rock music survived as "New Rock" in Japanese underground music. Although the origin of modern Japanese rock was usually regarded as "New Rock", their videos of live concerts were very rare.
