n34:abstract
Harold M. Hyland (born - January 2, 1889 in Montreal,Quebec - died August 2, 1969) was a Canadian professional forward who played for the Montreal Wanderers and Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League and others. Hyland grew up and played hockey in the neighbourhood around the Montreal harbour. He turned pro with the Montreal Shamrocks of the Eastern Canada Hockey Association in 1908-09. He then helped lead the Montreal Wanderers to a Stanley Cup victory in 1909-10. After another season with the Wanderers he joined the New Westminster Royals of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association in their fiorst season, 1911-12. He rejoined the Wanderers in 1912-13 and stayed with them until they folded in 1917 because of their arena fire. His rights were then sold to the Ottawa Senators. Hyland played one season for them before retiring at the end of the 1917-18 season. He then went on to coach the McGill Redmen followed by the senior Montreal Columbus Club of the Montreal Senior Group. He once scored eight goals in a game against the Quebec Bulldogs in 1912-13. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.
