The Orion-class Destroyer Mark I was Blackthorne Enterprises' symbol of safety, perseverance, and justice. Measuring 2.5 kilometers in length, the cost to build one of these far outweighed the cost of paying its crew for three years. Several of these ships were built during its lifespan, with an owing to two successors, the Orion-class Destroyer Mark II and the Orion-class Destroyer Mark III. To date, only one Mark I ship is still in service, the Intrepid , whose whereabouts have been unknown since the Empire retaliated against Cadden Blackthorne's attack on Bilbringi. It has been assumed destroyed. The Orion's cavernous hanger bays easily accommodated nine dozen fighters or bombers. Despite its age, it is still an excellent destroyer, a menace to most capital ships above and below its size with its numerous turbolasers and warheads. Knowing an Orion was passing through one's home system made civilians feel safe, but a prolonged tour was an ominous sign. Where these ships wandered, war was certain to follow.
