(DS9 episode: "Far Beyond the Stars") Alternatively, it is possible that Benny Russell and his acquaintances only exist in the imagination of Benjamin Sisko (and, later, Elias Vaughn in his second orb experience). A third possibility is that Benny Russell existed in the main Star Trek timeline and he received visions of the 24th century from the Prophets. The exact nature of the two worlds and their relationship to each other has never been revealed.
