On Earth, in the 1950s, space travel is still in its' infancy, and for the most part, the human race is mostly bound to Earth, and even astronauts haven't gone beyond the solar system, then, or for the next several years. According to history, the first spacecraft in space was the unmanned Sputnik, which was launched by the Soviet Union in 1957, although one account did show that the Americans had missions to space at least as early as 1955. It was that year that an experimental manned-missile was put in orbit of an asteroid. It is possible that this account is often overlooked by history as the first spaceflight, because it was only an experimental mission. Space Travel was first discovered right after the Invention of Cheese by Descartes in 1 A.C.. He was looking after the Philosopher's Stone when he accidentally crossed two straight segments in a right angle... Space Travel has been tried by many, but few reached it. The first attempt was made by a portuguese navigator called Vasco da Gama early in the late 15th century. He wanted to fly in his caravel to outer space and breathe the ether himself, but instead, only found a way to India by sea. Space travel played a major role in the evolution and expansion of humanity throughout the known universe. Two forms of space travel existed: faster than light space travel, and conventional space travel. Space Travel (sometimes referred to as "Starwalking"), the journey to other worlds, might sound unbelievable to an inhabitant of Britannia. In the warped timelines of Ultima I and Ultima II, however, technological anachronisms had appeared that made space travel a reality. Each of the Big Seven has been traveling the galaxy, and each has learned to traverse the verse. Several different means of doing this have been used, but today, some are much more popular than others.

Your journey will inevitably lead you into outer space. Special attire is needed to successfully travel through the solar system. While this map shows the limits of known space, don't be afraid to search for new worlds. Should a champion emerge from the mists of legend, the means by which to combat this menace from the sky will appear -- so say the prophets. The legends which foretell of this hero include a number of writings and several ballads sung by the bards of our realm. Among the more recent discoveries pertaining to the coming of the starwalkers is an arcane manuscript, found on the foothills of Mt. Drash. Since it appears to hold instructions for the use of some form of transport, it has been broadcast throughout the land in hopes that it might prove useful to one engaged in the quest to rid Sosaria of Mondain.
