The Mission to the Seswenna sector was carried out by a reconnaissance group of New Republic pilots in the Outer Rim. The Mission to the Seswenna sector was carried out by a reconnaissance group of New Republic pilots in the Outer Rim. Since the Dark Order War began, an Imperial fleet known as the Firefox Battlegroup had begun preying on New Republic shipping in the Outer and Mid Rim Territories. After sighting vessels from the Firefox Battlegroup several times in the Seswenna sector, the Republic sent three BTL-A4 Y-wings to track any vessels from the Imperial fleet. During the mission, the three scouts successfully tracked the Star Destroyer Ravenous to Lamaredd, along with a cargo freighter that the warship appeared to be escorting. Because there were no records of previous Imperial activity at Lamaredd, it appeared that the freighter was there to collect something from the planet surface. Although the pilots were able to stay outside of the Star Destroyer's sensor range, the Ravenous' captain, weary of any eavesdroppers, deployed several TIE Interceptors to scout the area. However, by the time they were launched the Y-wings had left the system. After receiving a report on the mission, New Republic Fleet Intelligence concluded that there was an Imperial base of some sort on Lamaredd, possibly a factory or other production facility. This was reinforced by the fact that several other Imperial freighters had been reported to be transporting unknown cargo between the Lamaro system and the Seswenna sector. Therefore, the Republic Navy began assembling a fleet to attack and capture any ground assets on the planet.
