n3:abstract
The Shadow Lords are a fictional tribe of Garou (werewolves) in White Wolf Game Studio's Werewolf: The Apocalypse role-playing game. The Shadow Lords are a group of manipulative Garou, originally of Slavic origins, but the tribe's main focus is on ability rather than race. They have a sibling tribe of Garou, the Hakken, who dwell in the Far East and are organized along feudal Japanese clan lines. These black-pelted followers of Grandfather Thunder are one by one masters of Machiavellian intrigue. The power-structure within the Shadow Lords tribe is a hierarchy where you can only climb higher through means of deceit, treachery and other forms of skullduggery. Also means such as blackmail, intimidation or downright assassination are not unheard of. The Shadow Lords’ lives are like a daily game of chess and a constant struggle for power. They have great insights into psychology of their enemies and have no scrupulous to exploit anyone’s weak spots if needs be. Shadow Lords respect power and condemn weakness, any cub who’s not strong enough in their eyes is banished from the tribe. The Shadow Lords' goal is simple: to push the Silver Fangs off the throne and obtain power over the Garou Nation; the Shadow Lords and the Silver Fangs have been bitter rivals ever since the ending of the Impergium. None of the other tribes like them very much, or at all, but even the ones who hate them most don't question their ability to get things done. Shadow Lords is a new gameplay mode developed for Killer Instinct (2013), and was released on September 20th 2016 during the game's Season Three. First leaked on the shoryuken.com website, it became officially announced at the E3 gaming convention. Part-ladder, part-story, and part-arcade, Shadow Lords acts as the sequel to Rivals Mode from KI 2013's Season Two. It revolves around the characters of the Killer Instinct universe trying to band together before the threat posed by the demon lord Gargos, in a desperate bid to prevent the diabolical half-god from consuming the Earth. Mighty in battle and cunning in peacetime, the Shadow Lords follow the path of ambition and conquest wherever it leads. Their courage and tenacity are unquestioned, but neither is their arrogance, and the Shadow Lords will stop at nothing less than total command of Garou and human alike. Although they do not care to admit it, more than one member of this clan has been lured to the Wyrm by the promise of power. The Shadow Lords are the ultimate social Darwinists. They tolerate no whining voices of egalitarianism or moderation. One Garou, and one Garou alone, leads each pack and sept -- the strongest. While there are councils of elders among the tribe, there is always a clear hierarchy of dominance and submission. They understand, though, that strength is measured in more ways than raw physical might. Cunning and charisma are as valued as sheer power. Indeed, a physically strong leader who is oafish or speaks poorly is seen as less than perfect. The Shadow Lords truly see themselves as separate from all other Garou. While the others are creatures of Gaia, the Shadow Lords alone are the offspring of the union of two divinities -- Gaia and Grandfather Thunder. As such, they feel that they alone are the Garou fit to lead the race as a whole. Glifo: Tribo garou de origem no leste europeu.
