At some point in Lekgolo history, the species colonized the moon. During the Taming of the Lekgolo an Arbiter was sent to the moon for an entire year to learn about the Lekgolo so the Covenant could get a strategic advantage over them. There the Arbiter learned of the Lekgolo's ability to join together to turn into a large bipedal form. He relayed this information to the Hierarchs and they made the decision to assimilate the Lekgolo into the Covenant.
