Lieutenant Commander Dexter Remmick was a Starfleet officer, attached to the Starfleet Inspector General Office in the 24th century. (TNG: "Conspiracy") In 2364, he was part of the Inspector General's office, when he beamed aboard the USS Enterprise-D with Admiral Gregory Quinn to conduct a thorough investigation of the vessel. The nature of the investigation was kept secret, and this uncertainty drove tensions very high on the ship. Remmick questioned the Enterprise-D senior staff at length, asking them about the apparent unfitness of Captain Jean-Luc Picard for command. Despite the crew's strong objections, he seemed to be intent on finding problems with Picard and his command. His final report, however, was one of praise, claiming nothing was wrong with the Enterprise-D. After delivering his report to Admiral Quinn, Remmick said he would like to serve aboard the Enterprise-D after the completion of his tour of duty at the Inspector General's office. (TNG: "Coming of Age" ) A few months later, when the Enterprise-D returned to Earth, Remmick was an officer at Starfleet Command. He had apparently been transferred there by alien infiltrators, who had compromised the Federation. It was determined that Remmick's body was host to the parasitic being mother creature, and he was eventually killed by Captain Picard and his first officer William T. Riker when two direct phaser blasts, set on full power, blew off Remmick's head and the front half of his torso. By destroying the mother creature, they killed all the other parasites as well. Shortly before Remmick's death, the mother creature was able to send out a homing beacon that was presumably intended to draw other members of the species to Earth. (TNG: "Conspiracy" ) An image of Remmick was part of Lieutenant Commander Data's psychotronic stability examination in 2365. (TNG: "The Schizoid Man" ) Remmick was part of Commander Riker's memories while being infected on the surface of Surata IV and treated in sickbay. (TNG: "Shades of Gray" ) Dexter Remmick was played by actor Robert Schenkkan. In an early draft of the script for "Coming of Age" (titled "Starfleet Academy"), Remmick held the rank of captain. In the third revised final draft script of "Coming of Age" , Dexter Remmick was described as a "young, blond, dedicated officer." (TNG: )
