Strategic Operations Command Outer Rim Territories(South) is currently stationed out of New Echo Base on Hoth. The SOCOM-OR area of operations includes the planetary systems as seen in the Galactic Map snapshot. The purpose of this particular Regional Command is to protect the Outer Rim South from potential Sith or Imperial expansion. The SOCOM-OR consists of five Sector Groups which are currently being spearheaded by an MC90 Star Cruiser or Republic-class Star Destroyer. Additionally at the home base, the primary fleet is led by a Divinity Class Star Destroyer and additional support ships. Roving fleets have specific tasks within the Region in order to maintain peace against any threat and notify SOCOM-OR of hostile actions. An example is most notably, is two squadrons of T-65BR Recon X-Wing Fighters supported by 2 Corellian Corvettes and a Nebulon-B Frigate which is known as Angel Eyes. The purpose of this particularly small group is to roam from station to station and patrol the lesser traveled areas in order to gather intelligence on: Faster routes between stations; Imperial or Sith activity; Pirate or other Illegal activity and other various activity which would then be relayed to the higher echelon of command. Typically, each planet has a defense fleet which is stationary, small in size but large enough to withstand an enemy attack for reinforcements to arrive. The New Republic High Command at the request of Admiral Mollari has been looking into purchasing and fielding the Storm Mark II Defense Platform from XeroStar Corporation in atleast some areas.
