Great Southern Desert
rdfs:comment
The Great Southern Desert is, as its name suggests, a vast desert region in the southern portion of Tortall. Although claimed as part of Tortall since the day of King Jasson III of Conté, the desert region proved impossible to conquer due to its climate and the intractable nature of the indigenous Bazhir people. Under Tortallan government of this time, the desert was made into the fief of Meron. There are only two cities in the Desert: Persopolis and the Black City.

The Bazhir, and consequently the Desert, were finally integrated into Tortall in 438 HE when Jonathan IV of Conté became the Voice of the Tribes, a position of high spiritual leadership within the Tribes.
