Sornek was the elderly Vulcan director of the Federation Department of Temporal Investigations up to the late 24th century. He retired from the DTI in February 2369, succeeded by Laarin Andos. One of Sornek's last directives before his retirement was for the investigation of Devidia II and its system to ensure there were no more temporal displacement chambers like the one destroyed by the USS Enterprise-D.
