n5:abstract
Esoqq was a 24th century Chalnoth man. Esoqq was captured and trapped in a cell with Captain Picard and two other beings as part of a plan by an unnamed alien race studying leadership. (TNG episode: "Allegiance") Esoqq (meaning "fighter" in the Chalnoth language) was a Chalnoth. Esoqq claimed to have many lethal enemies among the anarchist Chalnoth, but also claimed he had slain the ones that mattered. In 2366, Esoqq was abducted and replaced with a replica by a hitherto unknown species along with Jean-Luc Picard and the Mizarian Kova Tholl in a covert experiment to study their different attitudes towards authority, which included the impostor Bolian Mitena Haro. Esoqq's attitude, typical of his people, was that authority was not needed. Food given to Esoqq while imprisoned was poison for him, designed to agitate the others. He was the first to cast suspicion that one of the others was an impostor, mostly focused on Tholl, as he saw him as a collaborator. He helped open the door and was punished alongside the others. Esoqq was released from imprisonment along with his fellow abductees after Picard exposed the experiment. (TNG: "Allegiance" ) Esoqq was played by actor Reiner Schöne, who had to endure some excruciating Chalnoth makeup for the role. "Despite the uncomfortable makeup, Reiner had a great time playing the part," observed Michael Westmore, "and really threw himself into it." Kategorie:Person
