The option permits Warner Bros. to adapt any of the Shannara or pre-Shannara novels including Armageddon's Children, The Elves of Cintra, but not the Word/Void books. Right now the studio is most interested in adapting The Elfstones of Shannara. Warner Bros. has bought a The Elfstones of Shannara script adapted by fantasy writer and Shannara fan Eldon Thompson. The script will be used as the starting point. Dan Farah of Farah Films & Management, Ryan Colucci and Eldon Thompson, all of whom were instrumental in bringing movie potential of the Shannara series to the attention of Warner Brothers, will be involved in the production of the film. Mike Newell, the director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is named as the director. No actors have signed on to the project; no artwork or preliminary work has been released. The movie has yet to be green lit, and may or may not be made.
