A Tanooki Suit is a power up found in the Mushroom Kingdom and used in Super Mario Bros. Z by Luigi in Episode 8. When Mario/Luigi uses it, they don a suit which makes them look like a Racoon. The Tanooki Suit is a second-tier powerup, which is an advanced form of the Raccoon Leaf. The Tanooki Suit grants characters one additional power besides flight, either allowing the character to turn into a statue of some sort by pressing down and the run button or a unique ability depending on the suit. The Tanooki Suit is a rare item found in Super Mario Bros. 3 and its subsequent remake. It transforms Mario and Luigi into Tanooki Mario and Tanooki Luigi. The suit grants the same abilities as the Super Leaf, with the added ability of turning into a statue when the player presses down and B at the same time. Also, if Mario or Luigi run fast enough to fill the Speed Gauge and jump, they can temporary fly. Tanooki suits are named after tanukis, Japanese creatures who, according to mythology, can use leaves to shapeshift and cause chaos. The Tanooki Suit is an item appearing in the Mario series. Roll can use Tango to attack enemies with a buzzsaw by holding up when releasing a charged shot. However, she can't fly while this is active and it uses weapon energy.
