The Magic Book of Oz is a contemporary Oz novel, written by Scott Dickerson and available on the Internet. In the story, Glinda the Good has a new waiting maid named Notmarie in her castle in the Quadling Country of Oz. Notmarie accidentally changes one word in the Great Book of Records, leading to an alternate reality in which the Wizard of Oz never landed his balloon in the country. Notmarie has to cope with an alternative version of herself (Not-Notmarie), a sprightly centenarian Dorothy Gale, and a still-living Wicked Witch of the West before matters can be put to rights.

One of many interesting aspects of Dickerson's story is its treatment of the Lurline origin story and of the history of Pastoria.
