Django (ジャンゴ Jango?), nicknamed the "Solar Boy", is the main character of the Boktai series. He wields the weapon "Gun del Sol", and is accompanied by Otenko. He is the son of the vampire hunter Ringo and the moon beauty Mani, and lives in San Miguel, the town of the light. Django is also the brother of Sabata, the "Dark Boy". Django was named after the coffin-dragging Spaghetti Western character "Django", played by Franco Nero. In fact, the Boktai franchise presents several references to such Westerns. The story follows Django, a vampire hunter who is looking for his brother Sabata. When he arrives at a town, he meets Master Otenko, messenger of the sun. After Otenko explains the Legend of the Solar Boy, he tells Django that he is the new Solar Boy, the one with the Solar Tribe bloodline. The townspeople soon tell Django that who attacks the town with the Undead is a strong vampire known as "The Count". Django goes to his castle and fights him. After defeating him, a Knight-like vampire appears. Django recognizes the scar on the vampire's hand as the very same scar Sabata had, and realizes that the vampire, Luna, must be Sabata.
