My Pokemon life: Chapter 15 - Falling rocks, charging tanks, and one angry dog
rdfs:comment
My head was filled with the welcoming chatter coming from the three Pokemon. Tailwind looked at me sternly as I sat up, rubbing my eyes. "About time you got up, the sun's about to rise" "You don't need to give me a freaking attitude call in the morning..." Lamp chuckled. The yellow sheep faced the two. "I should warn you all, Brine Cave isn't as pretty as before...not ever since that rock slide happened" "What did happen?" I asked, sitting down beside the sheep, she looked at me with her black eyes. "You'll find out when you get there...I suggest you be prepared to fight at any corner though" "..."

"You'll find out when you get there...I suggest you be prepared to fight at any corner though" I nodded, then looked at Lamp. "How the hell does a fish survive and FLOAT in air?" Lamp just stared back at me. "I dunno" she said. I rolled my eyes, this world is more confusing than most novels I've read when I was human. Then that thought came back to me. If I become human again, this could all end in an instant. Problem is, there's no "instant human transformer machine" here in the Pokemon world. After our goodbyes the sheep, we set off to the dark horizon. The sunlight was barely peeking out of the horizon, outlining huge mountains in the distance, and some of the sea's water in the west. "Where are we going...?" I asked again, quietly. Lamp, the one lighting the path for us with her bulb, glanced at my direction. "First off, watch your step...this is a steep cliff, secondly...you'll find out when you get there" "Something tells me this isn't a parole or some sort of thing I have to do to get out of prison..." "Took you long enough to find out kid" Tailwind said, swooping over the rough waters below gently with the breeze. I scoffed, birds may have wings but they're really easy to take down. We all halted in front of an entrance to a large cave. A weird statue was placed at the entrance. I approached it with caution. "...does the devil live here?" I turned to Lamp. She laughed. "No no, that's normal. It's a rock, a statue that helps us rest at night, gives us things from storage, or even transports us back here if we get defeated in that cave" Tailwind flapped his wings, landing right beside her, kicking up dust in my face. I coughed, he was doing this on purpose. "Defeated? Lamp...there's this thing called life or death, there's no "defeat" if you get impaled by a spear, or drown in sludge" "Just shut up kid...you're gonna attract the locals" Tailwind said quietly, looking at the rocks at the west side of the cave. I glared back at him briefly, then looked at the cliff beside the cave. It was covered in weird, slug-like Pokemon. Some of them were pink, others were blue. "We should keep moving...they'll wake up when the sun peeks over the rocks..." Lamp whispered, moving towards the cave. All the sudden I heard a growl, not from a Pokemon or creature...but...a growl. I tackled Lamp instinctively, rolling us both out of the way of a large machine that emerged from the cave. I looked up at the machine, holding Lamp in my grip. Tailwind was already flying back from it as it halted. It was a twenty ton, red tank. Armed with two guns on the side, and a huge cannon head. It seemed to have taken notice of us, because the guns started firing at our direction. I vaulted over some rocks, hiding in cover as bullets fly over my head. It was aiming for the cliff ahead of me. Smart move I might add, to trap us under a rockslide. I had to think of something, I looked at Lamp to ask her to get on her feet...or fins...or whatever causes her to float. She was knocked out, I groaned. More weight to slow me down. The cliff began to crumble in seconds, so I vaulted back at where the tank is. It was still there, firing. I briefly looked at the cave as I fell, hurling Lamp inside. My claws impaled the heavy armor of the tank. Tailwind, meanwhile, was avoiding the fire from the other gun. "GET THE FUCK INSIDE TAILWIND, I'VE GOT THIS" Having no reason to argue, he did. The tank tried to follow, but I climbed up to the hatch, kicking it in. Humans stared up back at me. The tank suddenly tilted as one of them pulled a lever. It was doing a wheelie. I slid off, but I thrusted my claw on the backside of the tank, where the guns cannot fire at me. I climbed, my claws deeply impaling into it's armor as I do. One of the humans opened up the hatch, holding some sort of Rocket Launcher. He aimed down at me, there was no where to run. All the sudden goo sprayed the human down the hatch. The locals were awoken and angry. I quickly jumped off and walked backwards, watching as the slugs overwhelm the huge tank. Several goo shots clogged the guns and the cannon head. I could see one of them break open the hatch. I was about to turn around when the tank suddenly selfdestructed on itself. I fell down, hitting my head in a puddle covering the hard rock floor. I tasted my own blooed upon impact. I looked back, only to find the charred remains of the slugs, and the entrance to be sealed off by rocks. One of the slugs started to get up, but a stalictite stabbed right through it's back, killing it instantly. Another fell a few inches from my foot, this one was larger. I had no choice but to run as the shockwave sent thousands of the pointed rocks falling downwards, trying to kill me. Then I remembered my dream, what Chris taught me. "Don't let your fear overcome you, take advantage of it" His words echoed. I focused. I predicted the where each of the rocks where falling, and I hopped on one of them as they were falling. I lunged to the next, my feet making it's landing, and then I lunged to another. I followed this pattern until I found something glowing in the cave. It was Lamp. I hopped into the small crevice, barely avoiding a rock that fell to seal it entirely. I rolled to a stand, walking casually to the light. Even though my wounds were minor, I still cinched. I was welcomed by Tailwind, who seemed...to have changed. "I tried coming back for you...but the rocks halted my rescue" He said, putting his hand on my shoulder. I shrugged him off, glaring. "Don't give me that crap. You stayed here so that your little feathers wouldn't get dirty as I stared death in the eye..." I pushed him away from me, he fell like the bird he was. I looked at Lamp. She was okay, still unconcious. But she had a huge gash near her head. It must've happened when I tried shielding her. "How is she?" I said, ignoring the backlash and swearing Tailwind was shooting at me. "She's fine..." A different voice said. I looked at where it was coming from. Out from the darkness, a two legged dog with a red core in his chest emerged, arms crossed. "And who might you be?" I asked, crossing my arms too. "You don't need to hear names...kid" "Maybe I do..." We both glared at each other for a long time, then we locked hands in a handshake. I nodded in respect, he did so back. "Name's Tim" "Tim huh? Very well" He replied, letting go of my hand. He looked at Tailwind. "He did try going back for you, show some sympathy for this man" "Fine..." I looked at Tailwind, who's face reverted to the same as if I was trash, "Thank you for risking your feathers and hygeine...now stop with the face and get us some water" Tailwind flapped his wings angrily. "Who says you should be in cha-" "Do as he said...or do I have to speak with you personally?" The dog said, stepping forward, red aura emitting from his hands. Tailwind backed off. "Fine..." He whispered, then flapped off into the darkness. I looked back at Lamp. "I'll treat her wounds, you should help find some foo-" He dropped a charred carcass of a slug in front of me. "Found one" He said. I was already bandaging Lamp, not looking at the dinner. "Good, now do you want a trophy or what?" "Hmhmhm..." He then sat down, leaning against the wall, eyes shut, arms crossed. "You have a mouth for a kid" "I'm. not. a. kid." I gritted my teeth, glancing at him. "Whatever...whining like a bitch doesn't help your problem now does it?" The dog looked back at me with his white eyes. I looked away, and resumed bandaging Lamp. "Hmph" I scoffed. "See? Shutting up once and awhile helps you know" Tailwind returned, flapping his wings so that he could land. I could feel the dust climbing up my back. This time I growled, showing that I'm in no mood for jokes. "I found water, but it's far off in there" I could tell he was pointing, but I didn't care. I was too busy healing another life. Another soul. Another damn Pokemon that was almost killed. I bet this one would die in several hours. "Good good" The dog replied, I didn't look at them. "Tim" I turned my head, finished with my bandaging. "What..." I growled, annoyed" "I've heard that you mated with a criminal...is this true-" My claw was up against his throat at the word "criminal". "Never...call...her...a criminal..." I growled. The Lucario kicked my face away, hard. I letted him go to cover my face. I opened my fingers, he was as pissed as me. "Never. touch me. again, YOU HEAR ME KID?" He yelled, stepping forward. The urge...the evil urge was building up again. The urge to kill...to just kill this creature...but somehow I was able to control it. "..." "Good..." He calmed, "As I was saying, Chelsea was one harsh criminal. She was wanted for several things. Hacking into human tech, leading the humans here-" "She lead the humans here?!" I lowered my hands, they were dripping with my blood from my mouth. "Why else do you think this war started? Humans are like babies...they always want things their way. They want to build more of their "cities" here" He said. I looked down. I mated with the enemy, the one who caused all this to happen to me. Probably the reason why I'm here. If she wasn't there, this would've never happened. If she was gone, then I would've had my life... But no, Chelsea was still a woman I love. I regretted those thoughts, trying to erase them from my mind. The dog was looking directly at me. "Stop being sappy and accept she's a criminal, I don't give a shit about your fantasies. This is reality, deal with it or die trying" I didn't care anymore, my childhood, my humanity was already lost after the day Chelsea died. "Whatever" I said, turning around to a corner on the other side of the area. I rested my head against the wall, shutting my eyes. Chelsea is gone. Helga is gone. My soul is....gone.
