During the events of the Great Cataclysm, several incidents changed in this iteration of the Matoran Universe. Many were simple, some far reaching, but all eventually converged in a different state of affairs come the awakening of the Matoran on the Island of Mata Nui a thousand years after leaving behind Metru Nui beneath. Agnien is one of a handful to inherit a new destiny following the Unknown Catastrophe, wherein which Makuta Teridax was forcefully purified by Takanuva Toa of Twilight at the cost of the latter's life. What exactly happened before, during, and afterward remains a mystery to all. As word spread of Teridax's redemption, including out into the remaining Islands, the Turaga invoked a clause of old - their reluctant ally must be defended by a competent team of Toa, as once the Brotherhood of Makuta had been by the Toa Hagah. When the Toa Nuva eventually fell one by one against hordes of unending Dark Hunters and other Makuta seeking to drag Teridax back into the shadows, the last, Kopaka Nuva, accepted the fate his brethren had been served and self-sacrificed his dwindling powers to create a fresh set of Toa Stones, one of which was gifted to Agnien, a mechanically-inclined Matoran of Fire often mistaken for a Matoran of Iron given her prowess.
