Base Conversations are optional pieces of dialogue in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn that can viewed while at a Base, available through the "Info" sub-menu. Base conversations can only be viewed during the chapter they first appear, and can no longer be viewed if you return after leaving the base. Some conversations can only be viewed if a number of conditions are met. All base conversations have a number of stars ranging from one to three. These stars inform you of the conversation's importance: * Conversations with one star only serve to flesh out a character's personality, similar to Support conversations, though without the gameplay benefits. * Conversations with two stars will offer you important strategic advice relevant to the following chapter's objectives. * Conversations with three stars will result in the player acquiring some gameplay benefit. Usually, this takes the form of receiving a weapon or Item, but it may occasionally result in recruiting a new character, or unlocking a Triangle Attack. Base Conversations also occur in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem where if units two units that can form conversations are in the same chapter together, earning 1 Friendship point with that unit. If enough points are obtained, they can have a conversation in the Battle Preparations menu before the next fight. Alternatively, unit can obtain 1 Friendship point for Avatar using the Clock Function. There are 3 Base Conversations one unit can have with another unit, and on the third one, the player receives a Bond item that boosts a a stat when used for 1 chapter. Also, if a character uses the Bond Drop item, all of their conversations with most characters will be unlocked instantly, except in the case of Avatar, where it only affects Marth, Ryan, Luke, Rody and Katarina (although strangely, only conversations Katarina and Avatar 1-2 can be viewed instantly).
