This spell can be cast by priests at temples and by cleric's. Harper's Call is another resurrection spell that is available only to harper's. Raise dead is the name of spells that can raise the dead. Versions of the spell can raise corpses into mindless undead, although some versions may give true life back to an individual. Versions of the spell can be used by casters both good and evil. Evil casters such as necrolytes, necromancers, and death knights will create undead creatures, and healers (druids, priests, etc) can bring someone back to life. Temporarily transforms any humanoid corpses in the casting area into Skeletons. Once raised, these act as regular Skeletons, fighting for whichever side has raised them. Of course, they fall back into a lifeless pile of bones as soon as their task is complete or their time limit runs out. File:Anim918.gif This article is a . Casting Time: 1 hour Range: Touch Components: V, S, M (a diamond worth at least 500 gp, which the spell consumes) Duration: Instantaneous You return a dead creature you touch to life, provided that it has been dead no longer than 10 days. If the creature's soul is both willing and at liberty to rejoin the body, the creature returns to life with 1 hit point. This spell also neutralizes any poisons and cures nonmagical diseases that affected the creature at the time it died. This spell doesn't, however, remove magical diseases, curses, or similar effects; if these aren't first removed prior to casting the spell, they take effect when the creature returns to life. The spell can't return an undead creature to life. This spell closes all mortal wounds, but it doesn't restore missing body parts. If the creature is lacking body parts or organs integral for its survival—its head, for instance—the spell automatically fails. Coming back from the dead is an ordeal. The subject returns with a death penalty: −1 to all attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws, and ability checks. This death penalty fades after the subject reaches three milestones. You can't restore life to a creature that has been petrified or to a creature that died of old age. The subject's soul must be free and willing to return to life. Some magical effects trap the soul and thus prevent Raise Dead from working, and the gods can intervene to prevent a soul from journeying back to the realm of the living. In all cases, death is less inclined to return paragon and epic heroes; the component cost is 5,000 gp for paragon tier characters and 50,000 gp for epic tier characters. Raise Dead allows the priest to restore life to a dead being. This spell can be cast by priests at temples and by cleric's.
