It opened in 1954 and is one of several stations connected to the underground mall system called PATH. The station is one of three stations located in the heart of Toronto's financial district. A pedestrian tunnel allows passengers to cross from northbound to southbound platforms and vice versa, Nearby landmarks include Scotia Plaza, Commerce Court and Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel.
