The opposition was an informal name given to elements inside the Peoples Republic of Haven who opposed the repressive policies of the Committee of Public Safety while supporting the ideals for which it claimed to stand. The term was used somewhat ironically as established Parliamentary usage in most Earth descended polities was to refer to the leading Party not in Government as the Loyal Opposition, or just the Opposition (when capitalized, the word always carried this meaning). The opposition is the political party (or the parties) opposed to the party currently in office in countries with Westminster-based parliamentary systems such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The Opposition was a Sangheili Covenant remnant faction that rose from the ashes of the Covenant's downfall in 2553 and was founded and led by Zexi 'Nrahom, alongside Shaxa 'Zosam, and mostly consisted of female Sangheili members with little to know males. Like other Covenant remnant factions, Zexi and Shaxa considered the Opposition as the legitimate successor to the previous Covenant which is known by its members as the Revived Covenant, despite its far-off Covenant name with other names being the Feminist Covenant by members of other factions and the UNSC, and lastly the Non-believing Covenant by the Loyalists. The faction waged a war against the Covenant Loyalists from 2553 to 2554 and later other remnant factions from 2554 to 2556 before being absorbed into the Swords of Sanghelios. An opposition is the time period allowed for an interested party to post a challenge to the grant of a patent. For example, this may be up to nine months from the date of grant of a European patent. An opposition can also be the actual proceedings where a third party raises their objection to the grant of a particular patent. Opposition is a motion involving a grasping motion of the thumb and fingers, hence the term opposable thumbs. It is the opposite of reposition. Opposition was an Imperial Star Destroyer. It was present at the Battle of Kashyyyk, sending down infrantry to help the Wookiees overthrow their Trandoshan masters and destroying the space force.
