The Battle of Fountainhead was one of the last major battles fought between the Commonwealth and the Nietzschean Alliance during their revolt. Following the Battle of Witchhead the High Guard fleet was in shambles with its few surviving remnants scattered across the Known Worlds. In a final act of revenge it is believed that a single surviving High Guard battleship attacked Fountainhead leaving the planet uninhabitable. Although the exact figures are unknown, the planetside casualties of the primarily Nietzschean world were tremendous. Since Fountainhead was the capital of the Nietzschean Alliance its destruction contributed to the instability that lead to the Alliance's downfall.
