Powell (December 15, 1916 – October 20, 1996) was an American-born screenwriter. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He wrote the scripts for several popular television shows as well as several full length feature films. His credits includes Hogan's Heroes, where he helped co-wrote the pilot episode, M*A*S*H, Quincy, M.E., The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Andy Griffith Show, and Charlie's Angels. He died of prostate cancer in Los Angeles, California.
