A Dwarf Spider Droid was a droid created and used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. It had a blaster at the front, and four flexible legs. The DSD1 Dwarf Spider Droid was a battle droid manufactured for the Commerce Guild to be part of the Separatist Droid Army. Baktoid Armor Workshop, in conjunction with Children's Television Workshop, designed the Dwarf Spider Droid to be loveable, cutesy, non-threatening, and deadly. It was eventually chosen over the Dwarf Dwarf Droid for battlefield use. The Baktoid factory was under immense pressure to give the Commerce Guild a working prototype on time. In order to meet its deadline, they appropriated some research from the Baktoid Theme Park Department and used a design originally intended as a wandering mascot. Features of the DSD1 included such features as: while firing its main central blaster cannon, the face contorted as if the droid were about to sneeze; while navigating difficult terrain, such as steep hills, the legs teetered about as if the droid were clumsy; when falling from a great height, the droid was programmed to shout "yaaaaa-hoo-hoo-hooey"; the legs could be used to wave hello at approaching armies; when the droid told a lie, its central blaster lengthened slightly. Dwarf Spider Droids were deployed during the Battle of Geonosis, the Battle of Kashyyyk, on Felucia, and other conflicts of the Clone Wars. After the war, when the Confederacy disbanded, many of the droids were sent to become comic relief in Ewok and Gungan children's entertainment. The Dwarf Spider Droid was released in 2004 with the Clone Strike set. Dwarf Spider Droids were large walker battle droids with domed heads, with red circular eyes. Below that was a large turret and its four legs. It could scale walls and was capable of disabling an AT-TE
