n15:abstract
Sergeant Stevens of the US Military Police attended the siege of Coronation Street in December 1970 when an insane Joe Donelli held Minnie Caldwell hostage at gunpoint inside No. 5. Joe was absent without leave from the US army and the base at Burtonwood had been alerted to his whereabouts by US Sergeants Greg Flint and Gary Strauss - and the fact that they now knew that Joe had killed colleague Steve Tanner two years before. Detective Inspector Seabright, in charge of operations, allowed Stevens to go into the back yard of No. 5 together with one of his own Sergeant's to try and talk Joe out but all they got was a bullet fired through the window for their pains.
