The original 10 Discovery Avenue was a hotel, the Mandarin Suites. Construction began in 2009, and ended the same year in December. It was seven stories tall, with three hundred rooms. The Mandarin Suites had a three-star rank, and feautured a ballroom with a grand piano, and indoor balconies on all the floors, leading into the suites. On th On June 5, 2011, the Mandarin Suites were closed. A fire had ravaged all floors of the hotel, leaving behind a charred skeleton of a building. Two people were killed in the incident.

On th e 1st floor was reception and rooms, the smallest in the hotel. The 2nd floor featured the ballroom. Floor 3 was mainly suites, a little larger than the ones on the 1st floor, but still only had one bed. On Floors 4 through 6 were large rooms, with two to three beds, and some even had a small kitchen. The top floor, the seventh floor, was the swimming pool and gym. There was also a penthouse suite, the largest room in the Mandarin. On June 5, 2011, the Mandarin Suites were closed.
