The Gettysburg class heavy command cruisers were a type of United Federation of Planets starship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the late 23rd century. (Task Force Games: UFP: The Federation Sourcebook for Prime Directive) Similar in appearance to Constitution-class heavy cruisers, the Gettysburgs first appeared (in the Star Fleet Battles timeline) in 2286. The primary hull was an experimental design that was warp-capable. There was also a 20 percent increase in phaser firepower, a 100% increase in missile firepower, a 25% increase in reserve power and a 7.5% increase in warp power. The standard crew complement of a Gettysburg was 388 plus 95 surface action specialists. The Gettysburg class USS Vincennes was upgraded and became the lead ship of the Vincennes-class command cruisers.
