Jamaica - which in its two previous World Cup appearances had never advanced past the group stage - failed to become the fourth consecutive team to win a World Cup for the first time in history with its loss. Peruvian wing Diego Marquez was the top scorer and Jamaican goaltender Willy Good was named the Best Player of the tournament.
