While the ship did carry twenty-four starfighters, it was intended to be strictly a ship-killer, with starfighters for defense. To this end, two giant sets of Advanced Heavy Rocket Launchers-38 launchers in all-provided main firepower. Originally, heavy rockets were not considered, since they are too slow to hit before being intercepted. Thus, by adding more propellant, the rockets flew faster, just a tad bit slower than the standard concussion missile. 24 heavy turbolaser batteries provided additional means of destroying ships. Sixteen quad laser cannons provided decent fighter cover, but there were several blind spots. Sixteen ion cannons knocked out shields of enemy ships just before the ship fired its missiles. Eight tractor beams enabled it to slow fighters long enough for the quad guns to finish them. Six chaff guns, which firde shards of durasteel, intercepted incoming missiles aimed at the ship's only true weakness—its rocket launchers. When Astragon acquired this ship, they added thermal shielding to block any warheads the chaff did not hit. Yet, it packed all this, plus two fighter squadrons into a ship only 1,100 meters long.
