Jeremy is a mutant. His mutant status was suspected in early childhood because his fingernails and toenails are so unusual. They are brown, really brown like mud and they are jagged like rock crystals. The teasing Jeremy has received about his nails has caused Jeremy to be a very shy and introspective boy. As a senior in high school, he made friends with Jason Radcliffe. Out of the blue, Jason had stopped allowing Jeremy to retreat into his shy, introspective self. After a while, Jason introduced Jeremy to the members of Omniteam and together they confirmed that Jeremy was indeed a mutant and that his fingernails and toenails were a source of power. Jeremy is still reluctant to be a crimefighter but he is loyal to the friends he has made in Omniteam and has therefore fought alongside them on many occasions.

He can cause his fingernails and toenails to shrink and grow into long stick-like structures. Each nail individually cannot be made to be any shape other than a stick but he can bend each nail during growth to combine with his other nails to make very large structures. There is no known limit to how long he can cause his nails to grow but the longer or larger the structure, the more time it takes to create it and uncreate it. Also, this structure is attached to Jeremy so that if he uses his hand to create a large structure, he can't use that hand for anything else. Whatever he creates with his fingernails and toenails is very strong, stronger than diamonds or adamantium or any known substance but his nails can be dissolved by strong acids. Typically, he uses his power to create a shield around himself and he extends the shield to provide cover for his friends.
