The V-19 Torrent starfighter, also known as the V-19 Torrent Interceptor, was a model of starfighter manufactured by Slayn & Korpil. They were used by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, these fighters were used by planetary defense forces, including the Botajef Defense Force, which mounted a rebellion against the Empire with them. The V-19 Torrent Starfighter is an assault fighter with exceptional speed and maneuverability that was used primarily by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. It has since fallen into the hands of independent governments and other organizations. Hoersch-Kessel Drive has also acquired the rights to sell them. Although a successful design, the V-19 would later be largely replaced by the ARC-170 Aggressive ReConnaisance Starfighter. n10:abstract
The V-19 is unique in that it has two pairs of folding airfoils that gave the ship added maneuverability and provides pilots with easy access to the cockpit's sliding canopy. The lower, hinged airfoils are coupled with enhanced repulsorlift engines that make the V-19 an exceptional vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fighter. Its armament consists of two blaster cannons (one on each wingtip) and two concussion missile launchers. Initially designed as a short-range fighter, Republic technicians later added a Class 1 hyperdrive to equip the vessel for escort missions. Although a successful design, the V-19 would later be largely replaced by the ARC-170 Aggressive ReConnaisance Starfighter. The V-19 Torrent starfighter was an assault fighter with exceptional speed and maneuverability used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.
