They were founded in 3203 due to the rules stating paramilitary organisations could not run in elections. As a result, each of the four major paramilitaries founded a political wing to bypass the rules. The Republican Party are currently the only parliamentary party in the Darnussian Republic independent from a paramilitary, after breaking ties with their founders the Kozarian Freedom Army in 3205.

The late Mikhail Hasch led the party between 3209 and 3220, during which time (3215-3220) he was the second President of the Darnussian Republic.
