Devilance was a person of note in human culture. Someone went dressed at him at Harv Hickman's Halloween party. Devilance became substantially larger than he was in the past and was on a remote alien planet where Starfire, Adam Strange and Animal Man were stranded. He captured Starfire. Adam Strange and Animal Man started searching for Starfire. They fell victim to his trap and were also captured by him. Devilance seemed to believe the trio saw something only the gods (such as himself) were meant to. Thus, being "The God of the Pursuit", Devilance took it upon himself to catch them. However, with a little team work and timing, the trio burned Devilance's face and escaped his clutches. They also stole his Lance in hopes of using it as a power source for their space cruiser. Devilance was bound by the very vines that once held his captives. Starfire stated during her escape that the whole planet they were on seemed to be a trap set by Devilance himself. He caught up with their spaceship, only to be eviscerated and decapitated by Lobo.
