In 2012 he won the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, becoming the first Norwegian to win the World Cup since 1994. A year later, at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013, he became a world champion at the normal hill. At the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, he won a bronze in the normal hill competition, remaining behind of Kamil Stoch and Peter Prevc.
