"CMS Ascension"@en . "CMS Ascension refers to a warship in the Caspian Navy. Two warships in Caspia's history have bore the name Ascension. The first Ascension was a Nebulon-B Frigate that was part of Admiral Dergan Roj's Barren Sector Fleet that arrived in 4 ABY. She had been a reliable scout and skirmisher for the Admiral, and had come through the Battle of Endor in rather good condition, albeit completely outdated. The ship would receive some nominal repairs and upgrades from SubPro and Lokkai, but more attention was paid to the other, more needy ships in Roj's fleet. Ascension would actually spend the first year of service in the new Navy on constant patrol of first the Caspian system, then other frontier districts. In 6 ABY, she would participate in the first formal encounter between the Caspians and Rautherans, and became a frequent courier between the two star systems. However, this would mark Ascension's last service to the Union, as the Hurricane-class carriers were now becoming established and the Shearwater-class frigates were coming online to conduct frontier patrols. In an exchange for several dozen A-Wings and other technological items (sensor sets, shield generators, etc.), the Union sold Ascension and her sister frigate Redemption to the New Republic. Six years would pass before Ascension would be applied to a new vessel, this time a brand-new Mergansar-class cruiser. At present, CMS Ascension (CHG-22) heads her own patrol flotilla, operating around Ketterslea."@en . "CMS Ascension refers to a warship in the Caspian Navy.
