"Lord Martin of Meron (pronounced MEHR-on) was the lord of the Fief Meron, which was part of the Great Southern Desert and included the area around Persopolis and the Black City. He was also a member of the Council of Lords under the reign of King Jonathan IV. Lord Martin was the father of Geoffrey of Meron, who was around Alanna's age. He visited the Royal Palace while Alanna of Trebond was still a page. There he also watched one training session of the pages in sword fighting in which Alanna defeated his son, Geoffrey. When he returned to his fief, he was accompanied by the squires, Alanna, and Sir Myles. Presumably his first wife, and the mother of Geoffrey, died, because Lord Martin married Roxanne of Haryse in 441 HE. They had five children, two sons and three daughters. In autumn of 451 HE Lord Martin was part of the Tortallan peace delegation that was sent to Carthak for negotiations.
