"Palü(VLM172) was born in the Lazuli in February 2010. His mother was either Young or Hen and his father was either Wollow or an unknown rover. He was born in a mixed litter of five pups, his litter-mates were VLP170, VLM171, VLP173 and VLP174. That same month dominant male Wollow was bitten by a snake and later overthrown by Rufus. All five pups survived their first month and started foraging with the adults. Sadly in March VLP170, VLP173, VLP174 and an older Lazuli member were predated, leaving just Palü and VLM171. Both pups survived their first few months in the Lazuli. Sadly in late 2010 VLM171 disappeared and was considered Last Seen. Palü was the only one in his litter who survived to his first birthday. At this age, Palü started undertaking sentry duties and also took to roving with"@en . .
