In 1997 he became a member of the Country Gospel Music Association and was nominated for the Silver Heart Award for Male Vocalist of the Year and won the titles for the Northwest Region of both the United States and Canada. In September of 1997 he went to Knoxville, TN and won the prestigious Golden Heart Award for Male Vocalist of the Year for the U.S. and Canada. 1998, 1999 and 2000 saw Abe walk away with the Silver Crown Award for both the U.S. and Canada. Recently he traveled to Nashville and was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year at the Country Gospel Music Guild Convention held at the Stardust Theatre on Music City Drive in Nashville. In 2002, Abe met Canadian country super star Paul Brandt and discovered that Paul has been a fan of Abe's for years and told Abe that Abe's music has been a contributing factor in Paul going into the Country Music field.
