It was the first crop to make Virginia successful as far back as John Rolfe and the 1620s. But, that would be wrong. Computer chips are. The Facebook page is really a Gilmore for President group started by Gilmore's son. Not much grassroots there. His website has a MyGilmore page coming soon. Ask anyone in Virginia what the number 1 product of the Commonwealth is, and they'll tell you: tobacco. It was the first crop to make Virginia successful as far back as John Rolfe and the 1620s. But, that would be wrong. Computer chips are. So why am I talking about this? Because Jim Gilmore finally caught onto MySpace and Facebook. And I'm from Virginia, the mother of Presidents. You'd think being a former governor of a technology driven state, he would have been using social networking a long time ago. Where last year at this time, our hopes were for a George Allen-R and Mark Warner-D presidential showdown. Well, we all know what happened to Virginia's former senator Allen, and Virginia's former governor Mark Warner decided now wasn't the time. He may be a VP candidate, who knows??? Gilmore was the governor after Allen and Before Warner. Allen's coattails brought Gilmore to the governorship where he promised to end the car tax. Currently, we're still paying a portion of the car tax. Gilmore had no coattails, as Warner the Democrat came into office, and then replaced by another Democrat, Tim Kaine. But, Gilmore has finally found the need to social network. When I first looked, he didn't have a site listed on his main website, so I'm guessing this is a month old or so. I'm not sure if the Gilmore site is official. It's on his website, but wikipedia lists it as an unofficial site. He may be heading toward the same problem Obama had. His site is weak, he has some nice buttons like the picture for this post, but it doesn't give much information. The one interesting thing on his blog is that 317 Californians listed gave him 4th place in the debate. That would put him as the best of the second tier candidates. I'm surprised though because they ranked their own California boy Duncan Hunter right below Gilmore, and Tommy Thompson as last. The Facebook page is really a Gilmore for President group started by Gilmore's son. Not much grassroots there. His website has a MyGilmore page coming soon. It asks for volunteers, so I don't know if this is a social network site like McCain's or not. It's doubtful Gilmore will break into the top 3 of the candidates, but at least he's now showing some effort for the younger voter. __NOEDITSECTION__ From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki.
