He was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He played junior hockey for the Indian Head Bengals in 1926-27 and then played for five seasons for the senior Weyburn Beavers. In 1932-33 he played two scoreless games for the Montreal Canadiens and then finished off the season with the Quebec Castors.
