"Sonic Drift (ソニックドリフト Sonikku Dorifuto?) is a kart racing game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series for the Sega Game Gear, developed and released by Sega. Released on 8 March 1994, the game remained an exclusive title to Japan until it was included on compilation releases years later. The racing game features Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose and Dr. Eggman in racing vehicles as rally contestants with the basic gameplay deriving from standard, early 1990's racing games. The game also got a sequel, Sonic Drift 2, which received an international release, unlike its prequel."@en . . "Sonic Drift"@en . . . "The Sonic Drift duology is a series of Spin-Off drift-racing games released for the Sega Game Gear, starring true blue and company. The first entry, released in 1994, was a basic kart racer, with four playable stars: Sonic, Tails, Amy and Dr. Eggman. Rings could be collected to either give the player a speed boost, or give the player a jump ability. Gameplay wise, it is very much Sega's answer to Super Mario Kart -- it even has a map on the screen ala the original outing (but inexplicably put on the top of it rather than the bottom). Prior to being ported to Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Adventure DX, this game never saw the light of day in the U.S. or Europe. However, the following year it did receive a follow-up, the aptly named Sonic Drift 2, which did make it overseas (and curiously retained the numeral in the U.S.). This game expanded upon the original by adding many more playable stars and tracks."@en . "325"^^ . . . . . . . . . "Sonic_Drift.jpg"@es . "Gallery"@en . . . . . "Sonic Drift"@pl . . . . . Originally, this game was only released in Japan, however, it is now available in other markets thanks to the recent series of compilations in the Sonic series of games and importing it on certain shop websites.
* The invincible theme of Sonic Drift is based on "Sonic - You Can Do Anything", the Japanese opening song from Sonic CD; in Sonic Drift 2, the invincible theme is from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
* Sonic Drift was the first game where Amy Rose was a playable character, and her car returns with her on Sonic R. The instruction manual also features a picture of Amy holding an umbrella that she will later have use of in gameplay in Sonic the Fighters."@en . . "Sonic Drift"@es . . . .
