He had a rocky start to his MLB career, but mainly because people expected more, and it still was good for a rookie, however Fukudome was MLB rookie, but a veteran in Nippon Professional baseball, where he played for the Chunichi Dragons. In 2008, Fukudome batted .257 with a .359 OBP and 10 home runs in 150 games. Fukudome was much ebtter in the first month of the season, but declined each month after that.
