"Patrol boat P31 was a Kondor I Class former Minesweeper and Patrol Boat that was scuttled as a dive site in 2009 off the west coast of Comino, Malta. It was built by Peenewerft shipyard to patrol the river banks between the East and West Germany and then was also used as a minesweeper for the East German Navy under the name Pasewalk. It was purchased by Malta in 1992 along with its sister ships P29 (formerly Boltenhagen) and P30 (formerly Ueckermuende), and was used to secure the Maltese coast against smuggling and border control operations. Most notably was the rescue of 251 illegal immigrants from their 20 metre boat which was sinking 44 miles to the south of Malta in over force 6 winds. P31 was decommissioned in 2004 and bought by the Malta Tourism Authority. It was sunk as an attraction for divers on 25 August 2009 at a depth of 18 metres to serve as a diving site."@en .
