He attended Young Harris College in the early 1990s before going to the University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University. Thompson suffered tragedy in the 1980s when his father was in an automobile accident that left his father severely handicapped, both physically and mentally. Thompson later had to fight the probate courts in his Newnan\u2019s county seat of Coweta County when it was found that an appointed lawyer was embezzling money from his father\u2019s estate. Thompson is a 1991 graduate of Newnan High School and holds several college degrees. He is an active outdoorsman and has climbed the highest mountain in the continental United States, Mt.
