"Walter Henry Key (24 February 1855 - 31 December 1931) was a merchant and local politician. The son of Henry Key, a commercial clerk, he was born in Islington. Admitted to the freedom of the City of London in 1886, he was a member of the Worshipful Company of Poulters, and was Master of the company in 1891. He became a member of the Common Council of the Corporation of London for Faringdon Without ward and represented the City on the London School Board from 1891-1904. A long term member of Stoke Newington Borough Council, he declined to serve as mayor of Stoke Newington. He sat as a as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council representing Hackney (Central) from 1907\u201310, and Stoke Newington from 1919-22.
