. . . . . . "The World War (WW), also known as the The Great War or The War to End all Wars was a military conflict fought between July 28, 1914 and December 6, 1917. Fought primarily in Europe between all the world's great powers, assembled into two military alliances; the Triple Entente (later known as the Allied Powers) comprised of France, United Kingdom and Russia, as well as their empires, and the Triple Alliance (later known as the Central Powers) comprised of German Empire, Austria-Hungary, and Italy (who never joined the Central Powers in warfare and later joined the Allies). These alliances were both expanded as the war progressed; Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece to the Allies, and the Ottoman Empire to the Central Powers. Ultimately, more than 65 million military personal (58 million of them being European) joined the conflict, and approximately 9.8 million of them were killed in the three and a half year war. The majority of these casualties were caused due to the outdated military tactics, and the increased lethality of weapons (such as the tank). Since it ended in 1917, no other military conflict has been on par with the number of soldiers fighting, nor the enormous death toll."@en . "World War (A Cautious Decision)"@en .
