He founded, with Boris Vild\u00E9 and Yvonne Oddon the resistance group Groupe du mus\u00E9e de l'Homme. He was betrayed, tried and sentenced to death. He was killed by firing squad, together with L\u00E9on-Maurice Nordmann, Georges Ithier, Jules Andrieu, Ren\u00E9 S\u00E9n\u00E9chal, Pierre Walter and Boris Vild\u00E9, on 23 February 1942 at Fort Mont-Val\u00E9rien.
