And was the 22nd pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He would go onto play four games for the Rockies that year, however, he would never make it back to the NHL. He played junior hockey for the Breakers from 1978 to 1981. In 1981-82 Ward played for the Fort Worth Texans and the following year for the Muskegon Mohawks.
